OIOI, GLUG EVENTS IS BACK!
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth... And London was without creativity, and boredom was upon the face of Shoreditch. So, we unleashed Glug Events and made the world freakin’ awesome!
However, in 2020 a new threat emerged. Far in the east the virus COVID emerged and ravaged the face of the earth. All the pubs in London ran dry and there was discontent across the land. Events were forced to stop overnight. A desperate defence was mounted, and Glug launched new formats to entertain the industry in a desperate attempt to keep the coming force at bay. From the ‘Inside the Box’ podcast, sponsored by GF Smith, to ‘At Home With’ - a free video series which explored the homes of the world's top creatives, numerous attempts were made to keep going.
Sadly nothing could stop the effects of COVID and in 2021, Glug, having once platformed the biggest creative names around the world for thousands of audiences, shut its doors for what seemed like the last time.
Since that fateful day, the Glug creative team, thinking they were without coin, and with no means to buy a decent drink, set up their own creative studio, boldly entitled ‘Never Dull’, with the aim to carry on Glug’s community driven message of connecting the best brands in the world with new and existing audiences. They never thought they would see a day where Glug would emerge from the ashes, ready to fight once more… but they were in for a surprise.
In the summer of 2023, they began a conversion with Glug’s parent company, Mediatel, who had bought the company just before the powerful COVID first emerged. Meditatel had struggled to resurrect Glug during the years of the pandemic, and lockdown but to the delight of the Never Dull team, they were looking for dashingly handsome individuals to purchase the companies IP, and carry on the adventure.
After a lengthy negotiation process, involving many zoom calls, and much legal jargon, the deal was done. Glug was ready to be reborn, and once more bring laughter, joy, long drinks and short talks to the weary workers of the creative industries.
The beacons are lit, our first event is on the horizon and there are many surprises in store. What started with sadness and job loss on that fateful day in 2021, will end in the best redemption arc since Snape told everyone he’d fancied Lilly all along.
